Just thought I d share this one with you all .............. WARNING 1 if you re eating, save this for later Well Nelson, my black pug is a bit of a greedy boy. I took him on, so to speak, about two years ago because his previous owners were having a baby. When I first got him, as the owners had told me, he didn t eat only these dog biscuits called Folics. He was painfully thin, and constantly panted which was a little worrying, anyway after about two days with the pug, I already had Phoebe, he discovered the joys of food and all the panting had stopped !! He previously lived with a rather large basset hound and I think he was very stressed out and intimidated hence not wanting to eat. Anyway ( I ll get to the point ) he now eats everything, tissues the lot  Yesterday my son won at work a big box of Celebrations and I left them on the coffee table whilst I popped upstairs to do a bit of ironing usually Mr Piggy stays by my feet, I wondered where he was ........ came downstairs and to be horror had demolished the entire box including wrappers.I know chocolate for dogs is not good but thought just have to wait and see really, he seemed fine and still wanted supper, needless to say only Phoebe had a little something. Well he hasn't suffered any ill effects, and his pooh glistened in the sun today with all the silver paper what a sight ! Would be great to hear other animals stories ! Julia

You did make me laugh though, I could just picture the glistening in the sun!
I don't have any funny animal stories, just thank you for making me smile.

Very funny! Glad he suffered no ill-effects! We`ve only ever had two dogs. The first one was a Springer spaniel, and one day as I was baking on the kitchen worktop, he came hurtling through the hatch we had at the time between dining-room and kitchen. He scattered eggs, flour, sugar and all sorts in his wake! He`d obviously leapt onto the dining -room chair, then chair to table, and table through the hatch! Our present dog is a Golden Retriever, and when he was a puppy I used to always have to fill the washing-up bowl with water before leaving the house - otherwise he`s climb up and snaffle it, and by the time I came home it would be a colander! Both were naughty as regards food - Rory,( spaniel ) used to forage for potato peelings and paper cake cases, and scoff them, and Flynn (Retriever ) once ate a whole tub of margerine he grabbed from the kitchen counter. Hi Kathleen, if you filmed them doing these antics, and put them on You Tube they d go viral ( as they say ) Pleased to hear that Flynn is a good boy now, perhaps he could sort Nelson out for me The other month I had a maderia cake and large rich tea biscuits in carrier bag dangling on a chair in the dinning room ready to take to friend the next morning. Stupidly I forget to shut the door properly and in the morning ....................... need I say no more, again the greedy boy didn t need feeding for a few days. I thought I had him sussed but failed miserably with my box of chocs, won t have the pleasure again. Julia x

 oohh Julia Nelson sounds like a cheeky piggie, not a dog! DON'T READ IF YOUR EATING I got two cavaliers, cute little dainty girlie called poppy, and chunky charlie - he loves a good munch in the garden of flowers, snails, and any other plants (he leaves lavender alone)! Yesterday my husband was downstairs and mentioned charlie had a dirty bum! So he carried charlie up for bath done by me (my job in all the years we have had dogs). Normally one lot of shampoo and chopping of his curtains round the rear would be fine......ohh no! Once I did the first lot, it kept coming, washed charlie off the 2nd time, there was more!!! So, third time of washing and shampoo....all was done. I cleaned most of the bath as I went, so the water flowed freely. However by the time I finished I ached all over, sent charlie downstairs to show off his sore bum and tea tree oil shampoo whiffs! So feeling stiff and needing to leave the bathroom for fresh air, I asked my husband to come up to swill the bath off.....he did (and curse me)!!! I said next time you do it from the start! I treated the dogs to poach eggs and rice for tea yesterday and today....... Is Nelson okay? Take care Jane Xxx

Hi Julia
What a character! He seems to be making up for lost time. Mind you, I can demolish a good number of chocs in one sitting- minus the wrappers! I don't have dogs myself but remember my brother had a great dane that used to eat slugs. When I was a kid we had a collie he used to eat the paper cases off cupcakes.

Thanks for the replies I think you cope very well Jane in the " poodle parlour " department, and yes I think you deserve a break next time as it is a very demanding job. I don t ask my son to do much, to be honest, he's now 21 but he does bath the two of them and I think he quite enjoys it really. Nelson particularly likes the blow-dry afterwards with the hairdryer but Phoebe not so keen. Sophie, he is a handful indeed, once he's had his dinner late afternoon, he is a good boy til the morning when he cries outside my bedroom to wake me up to go downstairs and make his breakfast , Luckily Maria, I don t have any slugs in my little garden, so thats good. However Phoebe has a bad habit of finding spiders ......... I ll leave it there !! Julia xx
